Perform at HighLight!

Late Night Lights Trust are proud to present HighLighting Talent!, showcasing the diverse talents of the Wellington Region’s solo performers and groups.
HighLighting Talent will focus on performances that creatively incorporate a light component, providing space at HighLight: Carnival of Lights to perform.
Participants will captivate event attendees, and winners will be determined through a panel of judges as well as People’s Choice vote through our Facebook page.

KEY INFORMATION

  • Entries are open from 12 February to 11 March 2024
  • Performances to take place at HighLight: Carnival of Lights, 29, 30, and/or 31 March 2024.
    • Performance length
      • Minimum: 3 minutes
      • Maximum: 10 minutes
  • HighLighting Talent is open to individuals or groups who reside in the Wellington region (Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Wellington, Porirua, Kapiti and the Wairarapa)
  • Entries must include a light component, or align with the objectives of our 2024 charity partner, RMHC.
  • Entries and performances must be appropriate for all ages.
  • Late Night Lights Trust will provide a space for you/your group to perform at the event.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Ensure you/your group meet the competition criteria and understand the terms and conditions.
  2. Complete the online application form and submit with video by Monday 11 March 2024, including:
      • Group or performance name
      • Up to 250 words outlining the performance
      • A video of no less than 15 seconds to give HighLighting Talent organisers an idea of the look and feel of your performance.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Submission Process:

  • Participants must express their interest by completing the registration form.
    • Parental/Guardian permission is required to enter if under 16yrs old.
    • Participants will be allocated a date/time slot, and once scheduling is set there cannot be any changes.
  • Alongside the form, participants should submit a 15-second video showcasing their talent (videos can be longer if applicable).
    • Registration videos may be used by HighLight: Carnival of Lights for promotional purposes related to the activation, now and in the future, without renumeration.

Event Night:

  • Participants must report to the event office at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled performance time.
  • Entry to the event will be provided to participants on allocated performance night.
    • Families, supporters and support crew will need to purchase tickets.

Voting Process:

  • A panel of talented judges to pick a winner across all three nights.
    • Judges decision is final and no discussion will be entered in to.
  • AND we’ll be running “People’s Choice” voting through our Facebook page.
    • People’s Choice voting period will be clearly communicated to all participants.

Prizes:

  • People’s Choice: $200 voucher.
  • Panel of Judges
    •  1st – $250 voucher
    • 2nd – $150 vouchers
    • 3rd – $100 voucher
  • The opportunity to be a key performance at HighLight 2025.

 Event Promotion:

  • Participants are encouraged to share their involvement on their social media channels, or websites.
  • HighLight: Carnival of Lights reserves the right to promote and share submitted content on official event platforms, and with our sponsors and partners.

Technical Requirements:

  • Participants are responsible for ensuring that their performances meet safety standards.
  • HighLight: Carnival of Lights can supply a 4x3m stage or a grass space for you to use for your performance on event night/s.
  • Upon request, HighLight: Carnival of Lights can work with you to supply required audio-visual equipment (e.g. speakers to play audio) to accompany your performance on event night/s.

Terms and conditions may be updated any time as required by Late Night Lights Trust.
