Getting here

The carnival is spread across Riddiford Garden and the Civic Precinct in Lower Hutt. We recommend using public transport because parking can be limited.

The nearest train stations are Ava, Woburn and Waterloo on the Hutt Valley Line.

Each station is a 15-20 minute walk to the carnival.

Check Metlink for more information.
Bus replacements will be running Saturday to Monday.

To help you come to HighLight, we are putting on free buses, leaving at 6.30pm & 8pm:
  • Friday: Wainuiomata and Naenae
  • Saturday: Taita and Stokes Valley
Return buses will leave the carnival at 9.30pm and 10.30pm.
These free buses will arrive/depart from outside the Hutt Valley District Court.

The best opportunity for parking is the Riverbank car park accessible via Daly Street and Rutherford Street. There are 847 parks available for free after 5pm. Security will be operating during the carnival. It’s a 5 minute walk to the carnival through the Lower Hutt CBD.

332 paid parks are available at Centre City Plaza Parking Building, accessible from Queens Drive.

Both car parks will close at midnight each night during the carnival.
